CIAP-2, designed for healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, practical nurses, and health workers, optimizes the search for procedures and codes related to symptoms, complaints, and procedures within primary health care settings. The app aligns with the International Classification of Primary Care (CIAP), which prioritizes the individual and their social context over the specific etiological diagnosis. Initially developed in 2006 as part of Brazil’s participation in the International Committee of WONCA Classification, CIAP-2 addresses the limitations of the prior Portuguese version regarding electronic medical records and the intricacies of healthcare professional-patient interactions. Following a pivotal agreement with the Brazilian Society of Family and Community Medicine, widespread implementation of CIAP in Brazil became feasible, allowing for accurate representation of health issues prevalent above a 1:1,000 ratio.
